Our Story
At Dancing for Joy, we believe that dance is a concealed weapon against the challenges we face. When we praise God, the enemy is stilled, confused, and defeated, as stated in 2 Chronicles 20. Our aim is to impact souls through the powerful combination of faith and dance. Unlike traditional dance spaces and venues, Dancing for Joy offers an environment that goes beyond competition and superficial performance. We believe in fostering a supportive and uplifting atmosphere where dancers can fully express their faith and find inspiration in worship.
Since its opening, the vision of Dancing For Joy has been to train dancers in the Lord’s dance and tour locally, nationally, and internationally. We aspire to bring Christian dancers together for worship and to tour throughout the world while sharing the love of Jesus with their audiences.
After becoming a Christian in 1995, Minister Cynthia Chambers went forth to serve and honor her Lord Jesus with the gifts He had given her. She began to see dance as a way to worship and praise God. Her passion for dance is best captured in Psalm 30:11: “You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness.” Minister Cynthia Chambers holds these words as the foundation of her testimony and her love for dance. Her daughter (and co-founder of Dancing For Joy), Dr. Nzingha Williams, has trained in the Royal Academy of Dance curriculum (RAD) and continues to collaborate with her mother on various dance projects.
